MBRS WINS IN THE COVETED ALL INDIA IPSC IT FEST 2K21

Two of our students ::: Victor Khangembam and Suryadipta Goswami of Std. XII (Science) of Miles Bronson Residential School have won the coveted All India 2nd Position in the Indian Public Schools' Conference (IPSC) IT Fest ::: WHITE NOISE 2K21, organized by B. K. Birla Centre for Education, Pune. They have brought laurels by winning in the Discipline of Visual Art Competition ::: PAIK - Cyber Themed Stills and Writing Installation.

In the same category of the competition, Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls' School, Jaipur and Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior achieve 1st and 3rd position respectively.

Victor Khangembam is the son of Mr. Kh. Tarunkumar Singh & Ms. Kh. Padam Devi of Borjhar, Guwahati and Suryadipta Goswami is the daughter of Mr. Chandan Sourav Goswami & Ms. Debodduti Goswami of Lankeswar, Guwahati.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA & WORLD MUSIC DAY 2021 OBSERVED AT MBRS.

21st June 2021 was celebrated as International Day of Yoga and the day also coincides with the World Music Day. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity. Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. This year, the theme of the International Day of Yoga is 'Yoga For Wellness', and the focus will be on practicing yoga for physical and mental well-being.. Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) celebrated International Day of Yoga and World Music Day through both in person and online mode. The program was conducted at school’s Tennis Court from 6:30 AM by maintaining strict COVID Protocols with proper Social Distance, Sensitization and wearing Facemask.

School’s Yoga Instructors extended the Yoga guided practice and the whole staff, students and parents & guardians followed them in both offline and virtual mode. The exercised Yoga Asanas are as follows: Tadasa; Padahatsana; Ardha Chakrasana; Trikonasana; Bhadrasana; Ardha Ushtrasana; Sasakasana; Vakrasana; Bhujangasana; Pawana Muktasana; Kaphalabhati; Anuloma Viloma Pranayama; Bhramari Pranayama; Meditation; Sankalp Shanti Patha.

Revered Dr. N. K. Dutta Sir, Founder and Principal, MBRS in his Address extended Greetings for the sublime celebrations of International Day of Yoga and World Music Day (the Fete de la musique). Dr. Dutta Sir stated that, if we are to get happiness and come out from all our sufferings then we have to practice something which is in perfect connection with nature. Yoga is such a worthy science which focuses on bringing connection and creates a perfect harmony amongst mind & body; human & nature; restraint & fulfillment; thought & action. In the chain of his thoughts he expressed the importance of breathing exercises which is very important to keep our lungs healthy during this COVID pandemic which enhances our oxygen intake capacity.

The Fête de la musique, also known in English as Music Day, Make Music Day or World Music Day, is an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June. On Music Day the citizens of a city or country are allowed and urged to play music outside in their neighborhoods or in public spaces and parks. Free concerts are also organized, where musicians play for fun and not for payment.

Eventually World Music Day was celebrated and students presented their melodious songs through Virtual Mode who are namely Titiksha Das (Std. IV); Diya Das (Std. XI); Angsruta Phukan (Std. XI) and Aakansha Borthakur (Std. XII). The welcome address and vote of thanks were extended by Shakila Nashin (Std. XII) and Samriddhi Guniyal (Std. XII) respectively.






WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY OBSERVED AT MBRS.

The World Environment Day is observed at Miles Bronson Residential School during the e - Assembly on 7th June, 2021. In tune with event, Revered Founder and Principal, Dr. N. K. Dutta Sir symbolically planted sapling at the MBRS's Conference Hall which was also being broadcast live through the Zoom Platform and most of the Students, Parents and Staff witnessed the event through both Virtual (Online) and Physical (Offline) Mode.

Revered Dr. N. K. Dutta Sir while adressing the e - Assembly extended Happy Environment Day Greetings to all and expressed deep contentment for the activities and tasks accomplished by the students in connection to World Environment Day especially from standards 1 to 6. Dr. Dutta Sir explained how COVID has brought a turmoil which is literally the outcome of Deforestation and Disturbances caused to the Ecosystem of our Mother Earth. He also highlighted about the significance of Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainability which is possible through Changing One's Habits, Self Awareness and Education.






SESSION ENDING ASSEMBLY, MONTHLY BEST ROOM & ANNUAL MERIT AWARDS.

On 24.03.2021, the Session Ending Assembly was conducted where Monthly Best Room and Annual Merit Awards are conferred. The Merit Awards are given to the 1st Three Class Wise Toppers of the Academic Session 2019 - 20.

Revered Founder and Principal, Dr. N. K. Dutta Sir in his address extended Happy Session Ending Break Greetings to all students of Classes 1 to 9 & 11 and appreciated them for their dedication and discipline which they maintained throughout the academic year. In view of the Pandemic Year and despite joining late in school for offline classes, the way students progressed and coped up with the challenges in this testing times was quite amazing experience for all. He made a clarion call to all to keep up COVID Protocols as they are maintaining at MBRS, similarly at their Homes and guide others also to maintain the same. MBRS News Bureau: MBRS student once again shines in the national level competition. Taru Binyo of Class XII, (Science) has received the coveted 1st prize, in the SPECTRUM 2020, All India Art & Craft Competition recently organized by the Unison World School, Dehradun.
Miss Binyo created a scenic painting of a dog standing on a balcony gazing back in the backdrop of a cityscape. She participated in the theme “Drawing through the Window”, senior category.
It may be mentioned here, Miss Taru, is the daughter of Mrs. Taru Umpi and Mr. Taru Talo, resident of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.

BRONSONIANS WIN PRIZES IN NATIONAL LEVEL ART & DESIGN FEST 2020

MBRS News Bureau: MBRS News Bureau: Two MBRS students- Saikhom Angela Devi and Chitu Protim Boruah of Class XII, (Science) have earned accolades for the school after winning two coveted prizes in the Portrait and Cartoon Sketch Art Competition recently held under the banner ‘Srijanyam Art & Design Fest 2020’.
Angela bagged the 2nd prize under the category “Portrait of a Distinguished World Leader”. She created a spectacular portrait of world renowned physicist Stephen Hawking and dominated their feat. In another category of cartoon drawing competition, Chitu Protim was ranked 3rd under the theme “Welcome to a New World Order”. His imagination and far-sightedness delved deep into creativity to sketch a scene from the online teaching.
The virtual event organized on August 12th, 2020 by The Assam Valley School, saw a host of participants from schools outside and across the country like Indian School, Al Ghubra, The Lawrence School, The Doon School and so on. Miss Angela is the daughter of Mrs. Hidangmayum Tombisana Devi and Mr. Saikhom Ronei Singh, resident of Imphal West district, Manipur. While Master Chitu Protim is the son of Mrs. Monica Boruah and Mr. Robin Boruah, resident of Sivasagar, Assam.

MBRS News Bureau: Two MBRS students from Class XII Science, MASTER CHITU PROTIM BORUAH, who is also the Library Secretary of the School Council, has achieved 1ST POSITION and MISS SAIKHOM ANGELA DEVI achieved 3RD POSITION respectively in the All India Online Art Competition organized by Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls' Public School, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Like Miles Bronson Residential School, its also a Round Square as well as Indian Public Schools' Conference (IPSC) School.
The theme of the competition is "Fight Against COVID - 19." Across the Country almost all Round Square and IPSC Schools participated in the competition.

TWO MBRS STUDENTS PROVISIONALLY SELECTED FOR YOUNG SCIENTIST PROGRAMME UNDER THE AEGIS OF INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (ISRO)

MBRS News Bureau: We are delighted to inform you that MISS MOHSINA CHOUDHURY, Class IX, daughter of Mr. Mainul Haque Choudhury and Mrs. Nazma Begum of Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon and MISS ARBIN AJMUL HOQUE, Class IX, daughter of Mr. Ajmul Hoque and Mrs. Jefrina Hoque of Jogighopa, Bongaigaon are short listed to participate in the Young Scientist Programme: “YUva VIgyani KAryakram - YUVIKA”  (युविका), sponsored by Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO).
The Program is primarily aimed at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger ones with the intent of arousing their interest in the emerging areas of Space Activities. The program is envisioned for creating awareness amongst the youngsters who are the future building blocks of our Nation. ISRO has chalked out this programme to “Catch them Young”. The programme will be of two weeks duration tentatively from 11th May to 22nd May, 2020 and the schedule will include invited talks, experience sharing by the eminent scientists, facility and lab visits, exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, practical and feedback sessions.
This is noteworthy to mention that, from All Assam, only 10 students have qualified for this prestigious event and these two Bronsonians are amongst those 10 shortlisted candidates. Now they are in Final Stage and after verification of certain documents, final selection will be done by YUVIKA - ISRO.

MBRS News Bureau: On 14th February, 2020 (Friday), a Delegation comprising 30 students and 2 teacher in charges along with Revered Founder & Principal, Dr. N. K. Dutta, participated in a Motivational Session entitled “PARIKSHA PE CHARCHA: YUVA SAMVAAD.” The program was organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of INDIA which was held at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium, Panjabari, Guwahati. The Chief Guest as well as the Keynote Speaker of the conclave was Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal (Nishank Ji), Hon’ble Union Minister, Human Resource Development, Govt. of INDIA. The event was witnessed by many Students & Teachers from CBSE affiliated schools of the NE Region, Dignitaries and Luminaries.
The prime objective of the event was to extend some Live Experiences and Skills to students for performing high in the Examinations and also having a Stress Free Life and Atmosphere during Examination Days by Nurturing their Talents and Potentials. During Q&A session, one of our student delegates Miss Arti Mahato, Class XI (Humanities) received mega Applause for her commendable interaction with the Keynote Speaker.

MBRS News Bureau: A delegation comprising 16 students and 1 teacher in charge participated in the Leadership Camp organized by Indus School of Leadership, Bangalore from 21st to 26th January, 2020. The main objective of the program was to sensitize the students in preparing transformational leaders to meet all the challenges of the 21st Century, through Simulations, Experiential Learning, Traditional Values and the preferred application of 'Soft Power' to achieve personal & organizational goals.

ASTOUNDING SUCCESS OF MBRS STUDENTS IN STATE LEVEL ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

MBRS News Bureau: Two Students of Miles Bronson Residential School, Miss Sweta Yadav, Class XI (Science) and Miss Juliana Paonam, Class X have achieved 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in the State Level Essay Writing Competition organized on 4th November, 2019, Monday by Deendayal Upadhaya Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujrat. The competition was held at Hotel Radission Blu, Guwahati where approximately 70 students participated in the contest. The topic of the Essay was “Role of Petroleum on Indian Economy”.
The Prizes were handed over to the winners by Mr. S. Talukdar, Director, Assam Institute of Advance Studies, Guwahati.

MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) has participated in the Round Square International Conference (RSIC) – 2019, which was held from 2nd October to 8th October, 2019. The conference was hosted by Emerald Heights International School, Indore, India. The RSIC 2019 is themed and entitled this year “Sarvodaya” ("The World Which We Wish to See") meaning Socio Economic Development for All and from MBRS Seven Delegates participated in the conference. The student delegates were Miss Debashree Laishram, Class XI Humanities; Miss Arti Mahato, Class XI Humanities; Miss Sapriya Thangche R. Marak, Class XI Science & Master Wonchithung Patton, Class XI Science and the adult delegates were Dr. N. K. Dutta, The Founder and Principal, MBRS; Miss Henaa Duttaa, Governor, MBRS and Mr. Areef Ahmed, Round Square Representative, MBRS.

The Conference became more interesting and enriching with the Incredible Keynote Addresses from Iconic Virtuosos of Global Repute. The Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi addressed the august gathering which was quite eye-opening which sensitized the Students as well as Adults delegates to inculcate more upon the virtues of Empathy, Generosity, Compassion & Universal Brotherhood. Another noted personality who is the Author, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Former International Civil Servant, Dr. Shashi Tharoor and he showered light upon Democracy.
Students also experienced the session addressed by Sophia who is the First Robot Citizen. She personifies Hanson Robotics' greater mission of developing intelligent empathic robots. During the session Sophia emphasized on making a positive impact on humanity and to co-create a better tomorrow for all. Eventually Madam Kiran Gandhi, the Electronic Musical Instrument Performer Activist addressed the conference delegates with special reference to Woman Power.
Major D.P. Singh, The Blade Runner and a Proud Kargil Veteran who lost his right leg in the war was also one of the Keynote Speakers which brought a repository of Great Motivation to all the delegates and left behind a deep impact of Positive Introspection, Failure is the Pillar of Success and to Give up 'Giving Up'. The last Keynote Speaker was Shri Gaur Gopal Das, International Life Coach who deliberated upon Secretes of Impactful Success and beguilingly explained the three keys of Success Compete, Cultivate and Contribute.
Another Milestone of Learning was the Brainstorming Baraza & Rikka Sessions where students exchanged their views on contemporary Global Issues in the form of Group Discussions, Activities and Simulations which enhanced their learning experience in the RSIC - 2019. MBRS Delegates drew huge applause for their Mesmerizing & Colourful Traditional Dance (Bihu & Tiwa) Performance in the Global Platform of the Multicultural Event of the RSIC 2019.
Besides Keynote Address, Baraza & Rikka Sessions, the most compassionate part of the flow of events was the Community Service Programs in which the delegates were split into various groups to extend Community Service in the form of Spending Quality Time with Specially Abled Children, Painting the Living Rooms of Underprivileged Children, Marathon for Cancer Patients and similar.
During the conference the delegates hailing from round the world, had a lifetime experience of Global Camaraderie, Cultural Exchange, Living in a Society with Diversity, Unity & Integrity to embark the journey of “Sarvodaya”. GAURAV KUMAR GUPTA, an alumnus of Miles Bronson Residential School is conferred with the prestigious The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence Northeast, Certificate of Honour in collaboration with leading Assamese daily Dainik Janambhumi in the category of OUTSTANDING TALENT IN SPORTS in the Telegraph NE Excellence School Awards Ceremony. He is the son of Mr. Arun Kumar Gupta and Mrs. Sushila Devi of Jampathar, Karbi Anglong, Assam and has successfully passed out from MBRS after appearing the last CBSE All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE), 2019 in the stream of Commerce. The Award was presented by Mr. Subrata Sharma, CEO, Dainik Janambhumi in presence of Mr. Amitabha Datta, Chairman,The Telegraph Education Foundation, Dr. Bhupati Das, Chairman, Jury Panel, The Telegraph Education Foundation NE Chapter and many Guests, Educationists and Dignitaries. In the category of Courage, Mr. Jubraj Das Upadhyay and in the category of All Round Excellence, Miss Oyam Lipir were awarded. Out of these two alumni, Mr. Jubaraj Das Upadhyay has passed out from MBRS by securing 90% aggregate marks in Science steam in the last AISSCE 2019 and presently pursuing coaching for JEE (MAINS) and NEET and Miss Oyam Lipir is doing her MBBS at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong and passed out with AISSCE 91.8% aggregate marks in Science stream and passed out from MBRS in 2018.

MBRS SELECTED TO HOST 2020 IC3: INTERNATIONAL CAREER & COLLEGE COUNSELING, REGIONAL FORUM

MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School is selected as the Host School of the prestigious IC3 (International Career & College Counseling) 2020 Regional Forum. The International Career & College Counseling (IC3) Institute is a volunteer organization that provides support to high schools around the world through guidance and training resources for high school administrators, teachers and counselors. Through events like the IC3 Conference and IC3 Regional Forums, IC3 aims to sensitize leaders of educational institutions around the world to the need and criticality of a robust career and college counseling department: for high school leaders to invest in the setup and maintenance of this office in their schools, and for university leaders to take a counseling-oriented approach to recruitment and outreach.
Responsible counseling is about helping students find answers to three important questions:
A. What to study,
B. Where to study &
C. How to make it happen.

Counseling should not only manage the process of applying but more importantly provide guidance for students in making these important decisions. IC3 advocates for counseling to begin directly from class 8 or 9, with a complete curriculum for counseling in each grade throughout high school. IC3 provides counselors with the tools necessary to build these processes through IC3 events and the IC3 Institute’s one-year certificate program.
IC3 Regional Forums are a series of one-day events in high schools across India, Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, organized by the IC3 Committees. IC3 Regional Forums provide an opportunity for learning and knowledge creation through breakout sessions, along with networking between Counselors, Teachers and Principals from the local area and universities from across the globe. The IC3 Regional Forums are aligned with IC3’s mission to empower schools to build and maintain robust, well-resourced and research-oriented career and college counseling offices. The conference was hosted and organized by The Sanskar Valley School, Bhopal from 7th to 10th September, 2019. Rowling; Swami Vivekananda; Abraham Lincoln; Helen Keller; Maya Angelou and Martin Luthar King. During the conference, the delegates came across some illuminating experiences like Service to Community by interacting and sharing smile with the underprivileged children of Sanskar Vidya Niketan, Bhopal; Participating in Leadership Workshops & Adventure Programs under the theme “Josh and Junoon” which made them to think out of the box and to learn to take challenges; Collaborating in Tree Plantation Drive; Visit to Tribal Museum and to realize the antiquarian value of the preserved articles of Art & Craft in amalgamation to our cultural heritage; Trip to Van Bihar National Park to enjoy the rich biodiversity of the flora and fauna with about 200 species of birds, 60 species of butterflies, Sloth Bear, White Tiger, Lion and many endangered species.
Mr. Jeroninio Almeida, the renowned Motivator and Entrepreneurship Speaker and Shri Satyajit Bhatkal, Leading Publisher of the Country enlightened the conference as the Keynote Speakers and left behind an indelible impact of learning in the heart and mind of all the participants. The conference had another fascinating event “Open Mic Night” where one of the Bronsonian Delegates Miss Pratixa Chetiya voluntarily came forward with a mesmerizing and amazing Bihu Dance Performance which received a Mega Applause from everyone present in the event. The MBRS delegation returned from Bhopal on 10th September, 2019 and reached MBRS on the same day with immense Learning and Sweet Memories to Cherish.


BRITISH COUNCIL CONDUCTS COUNSELLING SESSION FOR HIGHER STUDIES IN UK AT MBRS

MBRS News Bureau: A delegation comprising 5 UK Higher Education Counselors led by Mr. Azahar Ali, Manager, Higher Education and Society, East India, British Council Division, British Deputy High Commission, has conducted an illuminating Career Counseling Session at the Conference Hall of Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) on Wednesday 18th September, 2019.
The students of Class XI and XII (Commerce, Humanities and Science) participated in this eye-opening session. The main objective of the career guidance session was to extend counseling for exploring undergraduate admission opportunities in four reputed universities of UK namely University of Nottingham; University of Derby; Newcastle University & University of Greenwich. During this session, students were explained about the benefits of pursuing their undergraduate programs at the prestigious Universities of UK.
In the inaugural speech, Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, extended Heartiest Gratitude to the British Council for selecting MBRS for this invaluable program. Dr. Dutta in his address explained the Advantages of Education in UK for its tradition of excellence in education which continues from the days of leaders like Gandhi and Nehru to the present times. MBRS News Bureau: We are pleased to inform you that Miss Debashree Laishram, a student of Class XI (Humanities) of Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) has achieved the Best Writer Award in Multi Format Debate (Bridge Round) at the Silver Jubilee Commemorative Young Thinker’s Conclave held at Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer, Rajasthan from 26th to 29th August, 2019. Total 27 schools across the country participated in the event. The Chief Guest as well as the Moderator of the competition was Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the renowned Debater of the country. The prestigious award was presented to Miss Debashree Laishram jointly by Mrs. Kanchan Khandke, Principal of Mayo College Girl's School, Ajmer and Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

Master Partha Pratim Barman has recently passed out after completing his CBSE All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE) 2019 in Commerce Stream from Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS). On 20th August (Tuesday), a delegation from North Eastern Chapter of “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)” led by Mr. Chiranjeeb Sarma Roy, Officer In Charge, ICSI, in gracious presence of Revered Dr. N. MBRS CONDUCTS STUDENTS’ CAREER WORKSHOP AND PROFILE COMPLETION ACTIVITY IN COLLABORATION WITH UNIVARIETY

MBRS News Bureau: The Second Step of Career Guidance and Counseling Session in collaboration with UNIVARIETY was held at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) on 20th & 21st August, 2019. The first round of the career guidance session was held on 16th June, 2019 and in consonance to that the recent career workshop was conducted where Students’ Online Profiles were created to establish link with Alumni as well as rest of the career world. All students ranging from Class IX to XII (Science, Humanities and Commerce) participated in the programme. UNIVARIETY is Head Quartered at Hyderabad, India with an Enterprising Team of 100+ across India and North America, driven by one single mission: Make Career Guidance Mainstream in Legacy Schools which includes Students, Counselors, Parents and School Management.
The career session for grades 9 & 10 was on Choices of Streams and Careers focusing on major stream choices and related to future Goal, both traditional and upcoming and also about the roadblocks in right stream selection and myths associated. For grade 11 & 12 (Science, Humanities & Commerce), the workshop was on Winning College Admission Plan. It emphasized the importance of planning and moving ahead step by step towards planning for colleges and for a successful college admission plan - why college should not be the first aspect to be thought about and what are the important strategies of planning to achieve Cherished Aim.

MBRS News Bureau: We are pleased to inform you that Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati extends the 2nd Phase of Grants / Scholarship to two more teams in the category of Games, Sports and other Cocurricular Activities.
First is the MBRS's Team, going to participate in the National Debate Competition, entitled, SILVER JUBILEE COMMEMORATIVE YOUNG THINKERS' CONCLAVE which will be hosted by MAYO COLLEGE GIRLS' SCHOOL, AJMER from 27th to 29th August, 2019.
Second one is the MBRS's U-17 Soccer Team, going to participate in the All Indian Public Schools' Conference (IPSC), U-17 Boys Championship to be hosted jointly by Pine Grove School, Dharampur and The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh from 1st September to 5th September, 2019.
All the Cost and Expenses associated with Participation Fee and Air Fare will be borne by MBRS in the form of these Grants.
This Grant / Scholarship is extended to deserving students as a token of Love and Inspiration from Revered Dr. N. K. MBRS HOSTS THE INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (IAYP) AWARD LEADER TRAINING WORKSHOP

MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) hosted and organized a two day award leader training workshop on International Award for Young People (IAYP) as North East Chapter from 8th to 9th August, 2019. The Award Program was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1956 as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The objective of the event is to motivate young people aged between 14 and 25 years to become involved in a balanced program of voluntary and self development activities to take them through the potentially difficult period between adolescence and adulthood.
The enriching program was conducted by dignitaries namely Mr. Kapil Bhalla, National Director, IAYP; Mr. Bhivujit Mukhoty, Program Manager, IAYP and Ms. Pallavi Gill, Program Officer, IAYP; Bhagyashree Sen Gupta, Program Officer, IAYP. A number of 16 delegates from IAYP affiliated City Schools, Dimapur and Siliguri participated in the event. Through vibrant group activities and mind boggling sessions the workshop induced a qualitative vision to be transmitted to the new generation. The dignitaries also made all acquainted with the upcoming IAYP adventurous trips where maximum participation is expected.
In the inaugural session Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS while extending the introductory remarks highlighted about the various associated dimensions of IAYP which enhance Self Discipline, Team Work Capability, Tenacity, Sense of Self Responsibility and also develop courage for Rescue Activities, Community Service Projects and Physical Fitness. Dr. Dutta also explained that how IAYP can bring learning beyond the classrooms and the incredibility of the Students Certificates from IAYP to occupy seats and achieve scholarship in foreign Universities and Colleges.
The basic structure of the Award consists of 4 mandatory sections Service, Adventurous Journey, Skills and Physical Recreation. There are three levels of Award – Bronze, Silver and Gold. This program for Students as well as Teachers will delve with an objective of the capacity building of the potential award leaders to run the award programme in their region smoothly with self confidence. It will also help to promote the Global cohesiveness and camaraderie amongst the students and award leaders representing different parts of the globe by enhancing individual experience by exchanging their culture, views and ideas.


MBRS SHINES IN THE INTER SCHOOL CRYPTIC CROSSWORD CONTEST (CCCC-2019)

MBRS News Bureau: We are delighted to inform you that Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) achieves the 2nd Position in the City Round of Inter School Cryptic Crossword Contest 2019 which was organized by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi on 14th August, 2019 (Wednesday) in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), Doordarshan, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Extra-C (Exhorting Excellence In Extra Curriculars).
MBRS is the North East Chapter of this Mega Contest. The Chief Guest as well as City Patron of the event was Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS. It is due to his valiant effort and endeavor 51 CBSE Schools participated in the prestigious contest across the entire North East.
In the valedictory event, Dr. N. K. Dutta, in his address extended privilege to the organizing authority for organizing such Intellectual and Vocabulary based event at MBRS. In his speech, he emphasized on the nature of Human Intelligence by analyzing the Crystalline and Fluid Mode of Intelligence. The program was conducted by Mr. Raj Narayan Singh, National Coordinator of the Contest.
Out of 51 Schools, Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati achieved the 2nd position. Miss Momik Borang (Class IX) and Miss Sentinaro Pelekhrienuc Pongen (Class XI Science) made the Breakthrough on behalf of MBRS. In the valedictory session, the Prizes and Certificates were given away by Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS.
This contest consists of two phases, City Round and National Round and being conducted in 51 cities across the country. The city round contest was launched at Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Auditorium, New Delhi, on 26th July, 2019. Mr. Ravikant, Secretary, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India and Mr. D. K. Singh, Commissioner, NVS graced as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The grand finale will be held in New Delhi in the Month of November, 2019.


MBRS HOSTS CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME AS NE CHAPTER

MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) hosted Capacity Building Program in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi from 5th to 9th August, 2019 as the North East Chapter. There were around 11 CBSE Schools figuring 108 delegates participated in the program.
On 5th August, 2019 (Monday), resource person Ms. Afreen Alisha Hussain, conducted a session on Stress Managent. She explained that, stress is ever associated part of Life but how much we are able to control and streamline our stress and anxiety, determines the quantum of a happy life and the best way to minimize stress is to concentrate on important aspects of life.
The next session was at a stretch for 2 days, i.e. 6th & 7th August, 2019 (Wednesday & Thursday), Mr. Vinit Lal, conducted the session on Mathematics. During the session, he made all understand the latent Fun and Inquisitiveness which are associated with Mathematics. He also conducted lots of activities throughout the program and made the delegates conceived the role of mathematic in other subjects.
On 8th August, 2019 (Thursday) Ms. Preety Rekha Bhattacharjee, was the expert who delt on the topic Life Skills. She meticulously explained about Self Awareness, Social Skills and Emotional Skills and asked all to know themselves first to know better about children.
The last day session was held on 9th August, (Friday) and Ms. Maya Choudhury, graced the event as the expert. She illustrated about Gender Sensitivity and meticulously explained the misconception associated in the society regarding gender and explained the topic biologically. She asked all to provide equal importance to both boys and girls and include these strategies in Daily Lesson Plan.
In the Inaugural Speech while addressing the august gathering, Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS extended heartiest welcome to all the delegates. In his address Dr. Dutta highlighted enriching aspects of External World and the World Within of the Mankind. The External World is associated with Material Aspects, Culture, Knowledge, etc. but the World Within which is more important comes with us and goes with us as an individual like Aspiration, Compassion, Honesty, Loyalty, Leadership, Values etc. and people should strive to earn Knowledge, Skills and Wisdom by enlightening the World.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE: “SWACHH MBRS” CONDUCTED AT MILES

MBRS News Bureau: On 22nd June, 2019 (Saturday), at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), a Cleanliness Drive (Swachh MBRS) was conducted where all the Students, Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS and Staff Members participated in the program with full enthusiasm. In MBRS Family, we ever inculcate a deep Love and Responsibility to our Mother Earth and the Cleanliness Drive Program is not only one of our Best Practices but also bears a highly prioritized part of our Academic Program which is accomplished religiously. This is noteworthy to mention that the key person behind this gracious initiative who motivates the Students and Whole Staff sparing no stone unturned is Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society who always believes that “Charity Begins at Home”. We will be surely able to get a Green and Serene Pollution Free World if we develop the value of Cleanliness Zeal by cleaning our Home and Surroundings at first.
Another remarkable point is that, MBRS is India’s No. 1 Green School Recertified Platinum Awardee (North and North East India) and we have Eco – Club as well as in resonance to the philosophy of our International Affiliation of Round Square IDEALS (Internationalism, Democracy, ENVIRONMENT, Adventure, Leadership, Service), GO GREEN culture is one of the Building Blocks of the Institution.
The program was stated at 12:15 PM after completion of the Terminal Examination and Weekly Test of the students. At first all the students cleaned their respective classrooms. Later, school wing wise the Students, Founder and Principal and the Staff members symbolically cleaned the Lavatories in a very hygienic way by putting on Gloves and with the help of necessary sanitary articles which were well supplied to them. After cleaning the Academic Blocks and Laboratories, the whole school assembled at School’s car parking arena and under able stewardship of the Founder and Principal Dr. N. K. Dutta the students with utmost discipline accomplished the Cleanliness Drive at the front yard of “Kautilya” (Administrative Building), Tuck Shop, Swimming Pool Arena, all Boarding Houses (Tsangpo, Mansarover, Subansiri, Lohit and Brahmaputra), Central Kitchen and the MBRS Football Ground and finally all assembled at MBRS’s Grand Stand with Intrinsic Happiness.
In the Grand Stand Miss Naoche A. M. Sangma (Class XI Science), Miss Anne Lipir (Class XI Humanities), Master Manish Nath (XII Science), Master Iyad R. Ahmed (Class VIII) and Master Bidyasagar Ksh. (Class VI) exchanged their views in front of the assembly and expressed a deep feeling of contentment by being a part of the program which they will cherish.
Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal in his remarks made a clarion call to all the students and staff to sustain this virtue of cleanliness forever and if everyone collaborate for this noble cause then surely those days are not far when we will get a Neat, Clean and Pollution Free Mother Earth.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY - 2019 OBSERVED AT MBRS

MBRS News Bureau: On 20th June, 2019, (Thursday), the International Yoga Day was observed at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati in a befitting manner. The auspicious event was organized at MBRS’s Basketball Courtyard where the whole school participated. All the students and whole Staff assembled at the venue at early Morning 5:00 AM on that day. Keeping in view an uninterrupted examination preparation of the students, the celebration was preponed on day earlier as the 2nd Terminal Examination is scheduled from 21st June, 2019.
In the gracious event Miss Desiree A. Sangma, Head Girl, MBRS extended the Welcome address. Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS addressed the august gathering of the students and staff members with his enriching speech on Yoga and its importance to minimize Stress, Anxiety, Fatigue, Inattentiveness in mankind and to proliferate Physical, Mental and Spiritual Wellbeing of all. Dr. Dutta, in his speech very meticulously emphasized upon a sustainable green pollution free ecosystem and Yoga Practice, as the two significant factors to determine the existence of Human being in this planet.
This was followed by splendid whole school Yoga Practice Session which was conducted by Miss Aarti Mahato, Class XI (Humanities), MBRS. At first the entire Miles Bronson fraternity performed in unison the “Surya Namaskar” (Sun Salutation). This was followed by the “Yoga Asana” (Yoga Practice) viz: “Hastauttanasana” (Raised Arm Pose), “Hasta Padasana” (Hand to Foot Pose), “Ashwa Sanchalanasana” (Equestrian Pose), “Dandasana” (Stick Pose), “Ashtanga Namaskar” (Salute with Eight Organs), “Bhujangasana” (Cobra Pose), “Parvatasana” (Mountain Pose), “Ashwa Sanchalanasana” (Equestrian Ride Pose), “Hasta Padasana” (Hand To Foot Pose), “Vrksasana” (The Tree Pose), “Tadasana” (Standing Mountain Pose) and “Kriya Yoga” (Chanting ‘Om’ in tune with breathe).
The program winded up at 6:00 AM and the Vote of Thanks was extended by Miss Anne Lipir, XI (Humanities), MBRS.


MOTIVATIONAL SESSION WITH NEET - 2019 ASSAM STATE RANK HOLDER MASTER AMLAN DAS FROM AAKASH DHARAPUR GUWAHATI CENTER

MBRS News Bureau: On 7th June, 2019, Friday, at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), a motivational session was organized, which was graced by Master Amlan Das, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) – 2019 Assam State Rank Holder in the august presence of Revered Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS and Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Center Director Aakash Guwahati and Silchar. The students of Class IX, X, XI and XII (Science) participated in the programme.
The event was anchored by Miss Vanshika Sharma, Class XII (Sc) and Chairperson, Round Square MBRS who extended the Welcome address also. Dr. N.K Dutta felicitated and Congratulated the NEET Assam State Rank Holder Master Amlan Das and extended the Introductory Remarks.
Master Amlan Das in his speech mentioned about his Cherished Goal and developing a passion to choose Medicine as a profession right from Class IX. In his address he spoke at a length about the Constant Counseling and Guidance from Dr. N. K. Dutta, and Mrs. Nandini Dutta, and also the untiring support from Ms. Romi Bora, Center Manager, Aakash Dharapur and the faculty members of Aakash Dharapur which have played the pivotal role to achieve the breakthrough. He motivated the students to remain optimistic in their journey and to keep putting their best efforts. Master Amlan Das also emphasized upon the great significance of Foundation Courses which he pursued in Class IX and X, helped a lot to develop his analytical and competitive skills.
Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Secretary reflected upon the importance of Time Management and to nurture values to be a balanced personality for achieving good results. In her address Mrs. Dutta deeply elaborated that every child in unique with incredible talents but this is the quantum of one’s perseverance and dedication decide success.
In the enchanting Q&A session Master Chitu Pratim (Class XI, Sc.), Miss Vanshika Sharma (Class XII, Sc.) and Miss Gampi Bui (Class XII, Sc.) asked about the Daily Schedule; Syllabus Completion and Stress Management respectively which drew the major charm of the session.


MBRS STUDENTS CONDUCT ROAD SAFETY AND TRAFFIC AWARENESS PROGRAM

MBRS News Bureau: On 11th May, 2019 (Saturday), a delegation comprising 27 Students from Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), in collaboration with Regional Red Cross, Guwahati and Assam Traffic Police, conducted a Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Program at Dharapur Chariali, Guwahati. In resonance to the International Affiliations of MBRS like Junior Red Cross (JRC), Round Square, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for Young People (IAYP), etc., this Service to Community Program was undertaken by the students in order to create awareness amongst the mass to sensitize the rules of Road Safety and to minimize Road Accidents. The students organized the program with immense enthusiasm by distributing Leaflets, Showcasing Banners, Posters, Play Cards highlighting the slogan "We Should Follow the Road Safety Rules", "Wear a Helmet for our Safety", etc. The exemplary initiative and efforts of Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Program of the Students were highly appreciated by all.


SECRETARY, MILES BRONSON EDUCATION SOCIETY PRESENTS GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT TO THE MBRS WHOLE SCHOOL STAFF

MBRS News Bureau: On 19th April, 2019 (Friday), Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Honourable Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society (MBES) presents and explains the Guidelines, Rules and Regulations as well as Code of Conduct to the Whole Staff in Principal’s Whole School Improvement Program (WSIP). Rules, Code of Conduct and Guidelines make a person more Disciplined and always enhance their efficiency of introspection to become Smarter and to Perform High. So far as Boarding School Culture is concerned, Teachers are the "Loco Parentis" and Role Model for the Children; hence Teachers are to inculcate at first an exemplary virtue of Discipline, Punctuality, Accountability and Ownership then only Students will be able to learn. Keeping in view these invaluable objectives, Mrs. Nandini Dutta graciously extended the presentation such that, these attributes ultimately spread amongst the students through the Teachers to enhance the students’ holistic development. This is noteworthy to mention that, these Rules, Guidelines and Code of Conduct have been solely formulated and minutely crafted by Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Honourable Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society, who have been devoting her life for the welfare of the children from last 3 decades and this is envisaged that her innovative initiative and policies will go a long way to strengthen the ethos of MBRS.


TRAINING SESSION BY EXPERTS, ORGANIZED AT MBRS

MBRS News Bureau: Keeping in view the auspicious beginning of the New Academic Session 2019-20 and to Warm up and Rejuvenate the Teachers to provide their best to the students, on 17th & 18th April, 2019 at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati, an enriching Teachers’ Training Workshop was conducted in amalgamation with the utmost enthusiasm of the Teaching and Boarding Staff. The two day orientation program was conducted by two eminent educationalist of the country. The first day program (17th April, 2019) was conducted by Professor (Dr.) B. L. Handoo, Educational Innovator, Indira Educational Consultancy Services, Noida and next day (18th April, 2019) by Ms. Rekha Chauhan, Counseling Psychologist and Life Skills Trainer hailing from Expressions India and Presidium Group of Schools respectively.
Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS in his commencement speech extended a deep insight of the Concept of a Happy Classroom and Effective Learning Process. Dr. Dutta also emphasized upon David Kolb’s Experiential Learning Styles: Active Experimentation, Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization and extended Best Wishes to all for embarking the New Academic Session, to add more success to the Institution by educating the Children in the coming year.
Later the session was taken over by Dr. Handoo who made the session highly interesting through his activity based Story Telling Teaching Learning Method; Significance of Lession Plan; Various approaches of Learning like Heuristic, Inductive, Analytical & Synthetic; Etc.
On 18th April, 2019, the facilitator, Ms. Rekha Chauhan actively involved all the participants in an energizing session which was focused on Transforming life into extraordinary. In the Ice Breaking Moment, Ms. Rekha showcased various types of Activity based Teaching Learning interactions like Aeroplane, Happiness and Finding out Positivity was quite illuminating and entertaining. The Session Covered Life Skills; Adolescent Wellbeing; New Understanding on Children and Childhood; POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) Act; Classroom Management, Etc.
The spellbound ambiance, the illuminating Q & A Session and the spirit amongst the Teacher Participants were itself evidencing a huge fruitfulness of the session.


PRINCIPAL CONDUCTS MOTIVATIONAL SESSION FOR CLASS X AND XII STUDENTS

MBRS News Bureau: On 26th January, 2019, the Founder and Principal,MBRS Dr.N.K.Dutta had an illuminating session with the Class X and XII Students who will be taking their Board Examinations this year.
At the outset, Dr.Dutta asked the Students about their aims and goals in life. All the Students were very excited to express their career goals which ranged from professions like Aeronautical Engineer, Scientist, Political Leader, IAS Officer, Management Graduate, Medical Officer, Sportsman etc.
The Founder & Principal stated that, while everyone has got dreams but there are very few who can fulfil them. This is mainly because of not being positive, determined and working step-by-step towards achieving the aims. He pointed out that human beings have the unique capability to have dreams and work for it. He also gave some tips regarding time management of how Students can divide 24 hours a day broadly into 3 parts - 8 hours of regular work, 8 hours of sleep and rest 8 hours of self study and preparation.
He mentioned about the immense potential that everyone is gifted with and how perseverance, persistence and self discipline can make us realise how to succeed with it. Dr.Dutta also emphasised the need to make some smart approach to the ensuing Board Examinations by adapting to strategies like mind mapping, speed reading, trying to solve questions from the end of the lessons, solving the Board question papers and previous years question papers, etc.
This was followed by a Question and Answer (Q&A) Session where the Students put forward their questions for example, Anne Lipir (Class X-A) asked about her lack of concentration and why is she not able to concentrate for a long span of time to which Dr.N.K.Dutta replied that, if one is interested and insightful, then no other thoughts will come to one's mind.He advised her to revise the easier topics first which will keep her interested and also stated that it is always necessary to take a break after every 30 to 45 minutes.
Another student, Taro Binyo (Class X-A) asked about why is she failing to get back her attention to studies even after taking breaks. To this Dr.Dutta replied that, exam preparation requires both mental and physical strength. Having a balanced and nutritious diet consisting of pulses, grams, vegetables, fruits and milk is very necessary. He also advised to drink a lot of water (atleast 2L a day) and practice regular meditation and yoga to keep oneself fresh and stress free.
Dishana Saikia (Class XII Sc-A) wanted to know how to stay motivated during exam preparation, answering to which Dr.Dutta said that, during exams, one can stay motivated by starting to revise with the easy topics first, then the moderate and then the harder ones, which shall keep us away from negative thoughts, anxiety, depression, etc.
All throughout the session, the Students were listening with interest and was engaged in the discussions with complete involvement and took away repertoire of skills and strategies for Peak Exam Performance.


MBRS PARTICIPATES IN THE 1ST GUWAHATI INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL

MBRS News Bureau: The 1st Guwahati International Children's Film Festival was organized by Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, Guwahati, Assam in support of the Government of Assam in the Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra from 19th to 21st January, 2019 in which 33 Bronsonians from Classes 6 to 9 participated.
The main aim of this programme was to sensitize students and educators from Guwahati about diversified cultural differences within the region, nation and worldwide.
The event provided a whole spectrum of experiences which included screening of films, workshops and demonstrations focusing on edutainment, animation and documentaries, pre and post film production by Young Professionals from the field of Media and Animation.
The children got an exposure to interact with film industry people who briefed them about making of cinema, 3-D animation,process of how kaleidoscope works and idea of virtual images used in cinemas which instilled in them the idea of film making.
The highlights of the programme included: screening of 50 children films in different regional languages among which the students got an opportunity to watch three short films telecasted in Hungarian, Marathi and Garhwali languages. A science fair was also organized by the Science Museum, Guwahati at the venue itself, in order to promote interest in Science and Technology among younger generation and to encourage scientific and technological creativity among students.
The film festival forwarded a great experience about the idea of film making among the young minds.The films which were being showcased in the Festival were helpful for the Children in understanding the meaning to shape their lives. It inspired them to respect the diversity in cultures, know their area of interests and achieve excellence in different fields.



MILES BRONSON HOSTS IIMUN GUWAHATI CHAPTER.

MBRS News Bureau: India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Guwahati Chapter had a kick-start on 28th December, 2018 at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati. Encompassing the NE and West Bengal, more than 250 delegates from the following schools participated in the 3 day conference, Delhi Public School, Guwahati; Army Public School, Narengi; Gurukul Grammar School, Guwahati; Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panbazar; Army Public School, Basistha; Delhi Public School, Siliguri; South Point School, Guwahati; Little Flower School, Hatigaon; Srimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur; Faculty HS School, Amingaon; Royal Global School, Guwahati; Sarla Birla Gyan Jyoti School, Guwahati; Assam Rifles Public School, Jorhat; Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Guwahati; Assam Valley School, Balipara; KV Happy Valley; Meghalaya; Sudarshan Public School, Guwahati; Crescent Academy, Guwahati; Jorhat Govt. Boys’ School, Jorhat; Sophie Mercy School, Sivsagar; NPS, Guwahati and the host Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahari. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. N.K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS, Guwahati. In the keynote address Dr. N.K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS, Guwahati emphasized upon that, besides being concerned with issues like climate change, global warming, sustainable development, trafficking etc., one of the major dimensions of the deliberation in the Conference should be Happiness. He mentioned about India's very low position in the recently announced World Happiness Ranking where it is placed 122nd amongst 193 Nations. On the other hand, in the category of Human Development Index (HDI) also India's rank is as low as 130th. The valedictory session was on 30th December, 2018 where Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Secretary Miles Bronson Education Society graced as the Chief Guest. In the concluding remarks, Mrs. Dutta extended her gratitude to all the organizing officials from IIMUN and all the student participants for successfully conducting the IIMUN Guwahati Chapter at MBRS. She congratulated all the winners and asked the young generation to contribute their invaluable talents and efforts in resonance to the philosophy of IIMUN to craft India as the No. 1 Country of the World. IIMUN is a platform based on the simulations of United Nations and Indian Parliament conducted in various cities of the country which was founded by Mr. Rishabh Shah. The main objective IIMUN conference is to extend exposure and leadership skills to budding talents by making students to discuss on various National and International concerns and to extract fruitful resolutions as diplomats.



PARENTS' DAY CELEBRATED IN MBRS.

MBRS News Bureau: We are delighted to share with you that the Parents' Day was celebrated on the 21st of December,2018. Miss.Desiree A.Sangma, Head Girl, MBRS welcomed the gathering with the Opening Speech. Dr.N.K Dutta, Founder and Principal,MBRS in his inaugural speech welcomed the Parents for their benign presence and their support and cooperation. He emphasised the role of positive parenting and quoting John Dewey that , " Education is not just a preparation for life but it is life itself", he stated that, in MBRS we strive to provide an educational experience with quality education where children become lifelong learners. He also defined the motto of the School - "Excellence" as a limitless attribute and it is not just about brilliance in knowledge and skill but Excellence is an attitude of positivity and optimism where we compete with ourselves to achieve higher and higher goals. The students performed colourful cultural programs of song and dance. One of the notable event was the unveiling of the MBRS Song conceptualised by Mrs.Nandini Dutta, Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society which was sung and performed by the MBRS students. Another attraction of the evening was the play Two Adorable Losers acted by Abhishek Patnaik and Darsheel Safari. The play depicted the wonderful relationship between a Teacher and a Student and how they learned from each other by developing friendship and taking real life experiences from outside the classroom to excel as a Teacher and a Pupil. This was followed by some delectable dinner at the Swimming Pool. We thank all the Parents for coming over and making the program a huge success.



Annual Prize Giving Day successfully conducted at MBRS.

MBRS News Bureau: We are delighted to share with you that the Annual Prize Giving Day was very successfully conducted on the 21st of December,2018 at 10.00AM at the School's Basket Ball Complex. Smt. Indrani Baruah , Senior Superintendent of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Government of Assam graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in presence of Dr.N.K Dutta, Founder and Principal, Miles Bronson Residential School and Mrs.Nandini Dutta, Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society. The Chief Guest in her speech, remembered her school days and highlighted the importance of Games and Sports in life. She also undertook a campus visit and expressed how highly impressed she was at the state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities provided by the School. She stated that, such avenues are to be found in few schools and students must utilise these opportunities for the holistic development of their personality. She highlighted the importance of academics and stated how in this Country doing well in studies is pivotal for getting into a good career and becoming a nice citizen. The Ceremony started with the welcome speech by our School Head Girl, Desiree A Sangma( XII,Sc). This followed with the welcome song " Swagatam Shubh Swagatam" performed by Bhaswati Basumatary(X), Keneitsinno (X) and Taro Binyo(X). In the Ceremony, prizes were given in various sports disciplines like athletics, swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, etc. Among the 4 houses : Earth , Water, Air and Light, Air House won the title of Best House of the Year. The Best Sportsman and Sportwoman of the year were Gaurav Kumar Gupta ( XII, Sc) and Anne Lipir ( X) respectively. The closing vote of thanks was delivered by the School Sports Secretary, Thoudam Gracy Devi(XI,Sc).


DESIGN AND CULINARY SCIENCES SCHOOL, SWITZERLAND IN COLLABORATION WITH INDIAN SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND INNOVATION, MUMBAI CONDUCTS ILLUMINATING CAREER COUNSELING SESSION AT MBRS.

MBRS News Bureau: On 8th December, 2018 (Saturday), The Design and Culinary Sciences School, Switzerland in collaboration with Indian School of Design and Innovation (ISDI), Mumbai conducted an enriching career counseling session on virgin prospects and options in the domain of Design and Culinary Sciences at the Conference Hall of Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS). All the Bronsonians of Class XI and XII covering all Streams (Science, Humanities and Commerce) attended and actively participated in the session. The event was conducted by Three National Representatives of Design and Culinary Sciences School, Switzerland, Mr. Rohan Heeranandani , Mr. Abhuday Roy and Mr Agnish Sarkar hailing from Indian School of Design & Innovation (ISDI), Mumbai. In the Ice Breaking Session, Mr. Heeranandani extended an overview of Design and Culinary Sciences School of Hospitality and Management and highlighted the bright career prospects in the field of Hospitality Industry. He enlightened the Bronsonians about the Life Skills to be inculcated in this specific career are mainly Critical Thinking; Problem Solving Skills; Network Building Capacity; Adaptability; Leadership; Entrepreneurship; Communication; Creativity and Imagination. The Bronsonians participated with full Enthusiasm and Inquisitiveness in all Activities and Quiz related to the Sector of Hospitality, Airlines and Restaurant. The next phase of the session was taken over by Mr. Roy and Mr. Sarkar who jointly emphasized on the Discipline of Designing. In the brainstorming session, the Bronsonians conceived a deep insight of Designing Career which is not limited to only Fashion and Interior Designing but also involves Communication Design and Product Design which require a Culmination of Art and Innovative Power. The session ended with an activity where the Bronsonians solved some Critical Thinking Worksheets and Puzzles and showcased their Beautiful Reflections and Latent Talent in tune with their Amazing Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills. The session was quite Enlightening and Entertaining as well, which left behind a huge positive impact amongst the Bronsonians.


BRONSONIANS BROUGHT INFINITE LAURELS TO MBRS

MBRS News Bureau: Of-late some of the Bronsonians have brought infinite accolades and glory to Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati by participating and winning in the various city as well as state level competitions. On 22nd November, 2018 a delegation comprising three Bronsonian delegates Miss Nisha Basumatary (Class XII Sc); Master Enrison Laskar (Library Secretary, MBRS) and Miss Desiree A. Sangma (Head Girl, MBRS) has participated in the DPSG Debate Competition, hosted and organized by Delhi Public School (DPS), Guwahati and brought immense Laurels and Fame to MBRS by winning in the multiple disciplines and categories of the completion. Miss Nisha Basumatary bagged the First Prize in two challenging disciplines, which are the Best Debater Category and Best Extempore Speaker Category. In the event of Bridge Round Writing Miss Desiree A. Sangma adjudged the Best Writer Prize. The Bronsonian Team overall achieved the second runner up position in the brainstorming competition. Covering the entire city, fifteen city schools participated in the challenging event. However on 24th November, 2018 Master Robson Das (Class IX) and Miss Kristina Basumatary (Class IX) jointly bagged the First Prize in the Discipline of Banner Designing in the Challenging Cyberfest, the smart inter school fest which was hosted and organized by South Point School, Guwahati. Encompassing the entire North East twenty-five CBSE Affiliated Schools participated in the illuminating and enriching competition. The prime objective of the conclave was to Craft and Ignite the Innovative Ideas of the tender minds by showcasing their latent talents. On 26th November, 2018 at a special morning assembly, Dr. N. BRONSONIANS ATTEND PROGRAM ON FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES

MBRS News Bureau: On 26th November, a delegation comprising 12 Bronsonians from Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) has participated in the Fire & Emergency Services Program at Regional Training Centre, Sila, North Guwahati, organized by the Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Guwahati, Assam. The Bronsonians who represented MBRS are Udeshna Bora (VI), Nishita Boro (VI), Bamang Yuma (VII), Arshik Bongrungpi (VII), Sneha Chakraborty (VII), Debashish Kathar (VII), Manan Bharadwaj (VIII), Supratik Talukdar (VIII), Sahil Haque (VIII), Churchil Singh (IX), Kabya Kuntal Saikia (IX) and Dhrubarun Dhiraj (IX). In the august event Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS was invited and he graced the event as the Special Guest. The Chief Guest was Shri Kumar Sanjay Krishna, IAS. Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Home & Political Department and Shri Kuladhar Saikia, IPS, Director General of Police, Assam; Shri Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Revenue & Disaster Management; Shri G. MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) is going to host the prestigious Indian International Movement to United Nations (IIMUN) Conference as North East Chapter from 28th December to 30th December, 2018. In resonance to this, a Curtain Raising Event was organized on 12th November, 2018 at MBRS along with the Bronsonians of Class VII, VIII & IX under able stewardship of Mr. Kamlesh Seikh, Senior Director & NE India Head, IIMUN. The interested Bronsonians of Class XI (all stream) also participated in the event voluntarily. Encompassing the entire NE India, all IIMUN registered schools which are affiliated by any recognized Board irrespective of any Medium can participate in the illuminating conference.
IIMUN is a platform based on the simulations to the United Nations and the Parliament of India, founded by Mr. Rishabh Shah. The main objective of IIMUN conferences is to imbibe Leadership Skills and Exposure amongst the Young Generations to put forward their Views, Debate and Opine on Contemporary Burning Global Concerns as Diplomats to Craft an Illuminating and Fruitful solutions to Those Issues. ASTOUNDING PERFORMANCE OF MILES AT 19TH INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER OLYMPIAD, LUCKNOW

MBRS News Bureau: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) has bagged the International Rank as the 3rd Runner Up in the category of Euphoria in the 19th International Computer Olympiad, hosted and organized by Department of Computer Fair and Seminar (COFAS) under City Montessori School (CMS), Lucknow. The event was held from 31st October to 3rd November, 2018 and themed “Empowering the Digital Generation”. The Bronsonians who represented MBRS and have brought Accolades and Glory to the school are Miss Yashita Sharma (Class - VIII), Miss Jenifar Ahmed (Class IX), Miss Debangshree Kalita (Class IX) and Miss Desiree A. Sangma, Head Girl, MBRS chaperoned by Mr. Nabajyoti Lahkar, PGT, Computer Science, MBRS and Miss Himashree Das, Dance Teacher, MBRS. In the challenging conclave, 71 Schools participated out of which 21 Schools are International (Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh & Jordan) and rest 50 are National Institutes. The Prime Idea of holding the fascinating event was to bring together young minds from all around the Globe to showcase their latent talents in the form of Technical Expertise and Creativity to enhance and enrich New Skills by novel ways of Thinking and Computing. The Bronsonian delegation participated in the discipline of Euphoria – A Team Event, where they showcased their performance with dexterity by presenting a Colourful Well Attired Bodo Group Dance entitled “Bardwi Sikhla” and received a thunderous round of applause and bagged the 3rd Runner Up Position in the Global Platform. In the Closing Ceremony, a sum of Cash Prize of INR 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) and Certificates were given away to the winners by Mrs. Smt. Jayashree Krishna, Principal, City Montessori School, Lucknow in the august presence of Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, Founder, City Montessori School, Lucknow and many other Dignitaries. IN-HOUSE LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPERS PROGRAMME CONTINUES: THIS TIME IN TSANGPO HOUSE

MBRS News Bureau: On 3rd November, 2018 (Saturday), A Life Skills Workshop on “Understanding Self and Exploring Emotions” was organized at the Tsangpo House of Miles Bronson Residential School for the Students of Class VIII and IX. There were 21 Bronsonians in total along with the House Parents and House Mistresses. who also participated in the Session very actively. The objectives of the programs were to facilitate the children to understand Team Work; Setting Goals and How to Inculcate “Presence of Mind” with Alertness and Mindfulness; Accepting Change and Way Forward; Collaboration, Etc. The Highly Enchanting, Enriching and Fun Oriented learning session was dovetailed with various activities such as Group Bonding - “Row the Boat”, Teddy Bear Activity, Master Architects and Video-Story of an Eagle. The Ice Breaking Activity was the “Row the Boat” where the children enthusiastically followed all the instructions administered by the Facilitator establishing a flamboyant portrait of Mindfulness, Camaraderie, Collaboration and Team Work. The Teddy Bear activity was filled with Emotions and helped the participants to explore their Happy Emotions. The next activity entitled Master Architects was a great exercise to demonstrate the importance of Planning, Teamwork, Problem Solving Skills and also Self & Social Dynamism leading to Success. The session ended by showing the children an Inspiring Video on the Rebirth of an Eagle which Reflected and Inspired the Bronsonians to Accept the Changes and Bring Out their Strengths with deep Introspection to make victory over their Weaknesses. This has been envisaged that the session brought immense learning amongst the children which is going to play a significant role to add more charm and values in their Holistic Metamorphosis.


WORKSHOP ON CHALLENGES OF THE YOUTH FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM & POCSO ACT ORGANIZED AT MILES BRONSON RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL (DAY - 2)

MBRS News Bureau: The Motivational as well as Counselling Session entitled “Challenges of the Youth for the New Millennium & POCSO Act” which was kick started on 2nd November, 2018 at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati had a curtain down on 3rd November, 2018 evening. The session was conducted by the distinguished Counselling Psychologist Mrs. Salony Priya, Director, UMEED Counselling and Consulting Service, Kolkata. The Second Day session was designed and divided into two events 9 AM to 11:30 AM and 12 Noon to 2 PM. The first timeslot was dedicated to the students where the entire Bronsonians of Class IX & X participated and the afternoon session was attended by the Whole Teaching Staff of MBRS. Keeping in view the workshop theme, Mrs. Salony Priya Counseled and Motivated the Bronsonians referring Adolescence; Sense of Responsibility; Concept of Contemporary Exponential Age; Goal Setting; SMART Work Model (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Time-bound); Reflection of Life with respect to Actions & Intensions; etc. The beguiling session became more fruitful when the students exchanged their views and clarified their fascinating queries before the end of the session. The smiling face and spark in the eyes of the participating Bronsonians itself was reflecting the bounteous positive feedback of the workshop. The Afternoon Session was attended by the Whole Teaching Fraternity of the School including Academic, Sports and Pastoral Care Staff Members. In the thought provoking workshop Mrs. Salony Priya emphasized upon some innovative and virgin points associated with pedagogy in an Audio Visual way like Child Safety; School Safety; Child Rights with special reference to Protection, Development, Participation & Survival; Child Abuse; Communicating With Children and Most Importantly POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act under Indian Penal Court. MOTIVATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CHALLENGES OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM ORGANIZED AT MILES BRONSON RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL (MBRS)

MBRS News Bureau: On 2nd November, 2018 at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati, an illuminating Counselling as well as Motivational Session entitled “Challenges of the New Millennium” was organized under able stewardship of noted Counselling Psychologist Mrs. Salony Priya, Director, UMEED Counselling and Consulting Service, Kolkata. The workshop will be continued for two days and will wind up on 3rd November, 2018. The first day event was split into Pre and Post Lunch sessions which were attended by all the Bronsonians of Class XI & XII (all stream) and Seniors Teachers under various departments respectively. In the ice breaking session Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder & Principal, MBRS extended his warm introductory remarks to the congregation. Dr. Dutta in his address elaborated upon the “Four Cs of 21st Century Learning” (Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration & Creativity) with special reference to Time Management, Temperament and above all Discipline. In resonance with the theme, during the Pre-lunch Session Mrs. Salony Priya counseled the Class XI & XII Bronsonians (All Stream) referring some innovative points like Adolescents Our World; Erikson’s Stage of Psychology; Today’s Teenagers; KSA Model; Selfie Addiction & its Psychological Impact; Connecting Really? Privacy Vs Popularity; Unethical Use of Internet; Physical Symptoms and she also illuminated the students about some useful Mobile Apps like TED; How Stuff Works; Udacity etc. The session was an interactive one where students exchanged their view which was another most important aspect of fruitfulness of the event which was highly being reflected from the face of each of the participating Bronsonians. The Post-Lunch Session was attended by the Seniors Teachers under various departments of MBRS including Teaching, Sports and Pastoral Care. In the beguiling brain storming session Mrs. Salony Priya highlighted upon some prioritized dimensions of Pedagogy especially for Boarding Schools like Compliance; TALK Model; IQ, EQ, SQ & CQ; Emotional Intelligence; School & Society: Behavioural Issues and Real Concept of Maturity. Out of these virtues, she made a clarion call to all attendees to deeply inculcate CQ which is to keep Changing with Time in a positive direction along with EQ which is Emotional Intelligence. She also added that the amalgamation of Brain Intelligence and Emotional Intelligence can shape a highly flamboyant personality. On 3rd November, 2018 the Pre Lunch Session will be attended by the Bronsonians of Class IX & X and the Post Lunch Session will be participated by the entire Teaching Staff. This has been envisaged that the program is going to bring immense learning which will escalate the portrait of MBRS to the next level.
