MBRS Takes Home Runner-Up Title in Under-19 IPSC Volleyball Tournament 2024 Hosted by the School
The Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC) Volleyball Tournament 2024 for girls in the U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories was held at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Guwahati, on the 18th and 19th of October. IPSC, a prestigious organization founded in 1939 in Shimla, brings together 80 leading boarding schools from across India with the mission of preparing students for leadership roles and responsibilities in all spheres of life.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Nripen Kumar Dutta, Founder and Principal of MBRS, in the school’s central assembly courts. In his opening address, Dr. Dutta emphasized the value of sports in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and self-discipline. He also encouraged students to take up sports seriously, as it can be a promising career option and an integral part of holistic education.
This year’s tournament saw participation from five prominent schools, each competing for the coveted championship:
– Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, Sonipat, Haryana
– The Emerald Heights International School, Indore
– Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar
– The Assam Valley School, Balipara, Tezpur, Assam
– Miles Bronson Residential School, Borjhar, Guwahati, Assam
The two-day event concluded with a closing ceremony presided over by Indian International Women’s Boxer Smti Pwilao Basumatary. In her speech, she shared her achievements on the national and international stage and motivated the young athletes to aim for success in competitive sports. Following her inspiring words, she presented trophies and medals to the winners in each category.

1st Runner-Up: The Assam Valley School, Tezpur, Assam
Under 17 :

In addition to the winners, Dr. Dutta also felicitated Ms. Sejal Singh from Army Public School, Basistha, who served as an observer, along with the officials who supervised the tournament.
The IPSC Volleyball Tournament 2024 at MBRS was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication, marking another successful event that underscored the importance of sports in holistic education and character development.
