The 70th Republic Day celebrations started off in MBRS with a patriotic song: Yeh Bharat Desh Hain Mera.
The welcome address was delivered by the School Head Girl, Desiree Sangma, where she mentioned about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to bring freedom to the Country.
This was followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by the Founder and Principal, Dr.N.K.Dutta in the School Assembly Courtyard.
Dr.N.K.Dutta, in his address traced the history of this occasion by stating that on 31st December, 1929 when the Indian Tricolour was unflured for the first time at the banks of river Ravi on the occasion of the Lahore Session of Congress where Purna Swaraj or Complete Independence was declared and this day was to be celebrated as the symbolic Independence Day.
After India won Independence the Constitution was enacted and adapted on 26th January, 1950 and from this day began the celebration of India's Republic Day.
Dr.Dutta also highlighted about how India has now emerged as one of the largest democracies where every Indian can feel the Country to be his or her own because of the principles of liberty, equality and freedom.
While recognising the power and potential of young India, he appealed to all the Students to not only look for jobs as a career but to become entrepreneurs by developing their creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills so that they are able to create employment and resources for the Country.
In the vote of thanks, the Cultural Secretary, Chandrika Paul stated that there is always something we can do for our Country by giving our part and contribute towards Nation building.
As a part of the occasion, the Founder and Principal, Dr.N.K.Dutta inaugurated a Kite Flying Festival where he along with Mrs.Nandini Dutta, Secretary,Miles Bronson Education Society; Students, Teachers and Staffs, had a very thrilling experience while making the kites fly high up in the air.
