MBRS Emerges as Green School Authorized by Centre for Science and Environment
Miles Bronson Residential School, a premier co-ed boarding school of Guwahati city has been appareled with one more feathers of success on its crown by emanating as a Certified Green School conferred by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) for the school's unique and unparallel efforts and performance of Chloro-Culture in the recently unfolded results of CSE's Green Schools Programme (GSP) Audit 2016. The green school results were declared at the Green Schools Programme Award Ceremony which was observed on 15th Feb, 2017 at New Delhi. Another remarkable facet of this breakthrough is that, henceforth MBRS has the prerogative to use the majestic CES's GSP Logo at the home page of school's website and other school affairs revealing a special charm. Point may be noted that, behind this invaluable success the unprecedented dreams of Dr. N. K. Dutta, Founder and Principal, MBRS and Mrs. Nandini Dutta, Secretary, Miles Bronson Education Society have played the pivotal role to build MBRS as "School in Garden", not "Garden in School". The principal proposition of this Green Schools Programme Audit stems from Water Conservation and Sanitation for a sustainable pollution free environmental ecosystem. Considering severe pollution of surface water sources (rivers, lakes and wells), depletion and contamination of groundwater, recurring droughts, large-scale mismanagement of water and wastewater - all these have combined to lead to a situation where eco-experts have begun warning of imminent 'wars over water'. Centre for Science and Environment anticipates students to discover the forgotten practice of rainwater harvesting and learn to conserve water responsibly which are two of the regular best practices of MBRS. It may be mentioned that, Miles Bronson Residential School, Guwahati is already having a reputation for its Go Green and Go Clean Mission by being granted as India's first recertified Green School accredited by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), by winning Green School Platinum Award at an Award Ceremony held at Mumbai on 7th October, 2016. Now CSE's welcoming recognition to MBRS as Green School in the GSP Audit 2016 which, in amalgamation is evidencing and portraying the flamboyant image of MBRS as one of the pioneering leaders of Green School of the country.
