- Miles celebrated World Environment Day along with the rest of the globe in a befitting manner. A special morning assembly was convened to sensitize students about the importance of the day against the growing backdrop of rapid environmental concerns. In his address, Principal Dr.N.K.Dutta shared the latest findings released by Duke University, USA highlighting the grim report card of the planet. He lamented the loss of environment due to reckless use of natural resources including rampant commercialization of forests resulting in deforestation, overgrazing, commercial trawler fishing diminishing marine life, loss of exotic and endangered species. He elaborated at length on an array of green measures adopted at Miles including adequate plantation, reduce, recycle, reuse and refuse policies. He fervently appealed to all to make optimum use of energy resources, minimize paper waste, use eco friendly technology and appliances including LED lights, communicate electronically and adhere to a healthy lifestyle thereby minimizing pressure on resources Debemita Laishram, President School Council in her informative and enlightening speech gave a brief outline of the world environment movement and appealed for co-operation to make the planet worth living in the days to come. Head boy Himsekhar Konwar performed a song penned by Hostel Superintendent and Behavior Counselor Simky Dkhar. A role play on the importance of trees in our daily life was brilliantly staged by the junior Bronsonians under the supervision of Anindita Bhattacharjee, Co-ordinator Primary School. Quality Control Manager, HoD, Innovation and Accountability, Senior Faculty, School Integrated Program Mr. Areef Ahmed aptly conducted the proceedings.
